The Kansas City Chiefs have traded Pro Bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons for a second round pick in 2010.
Gonzalez had asked the Chiefs to be traded for almost a year now, but the team had been unable to find the right deal.
The tight end was happy for his time in Kansas City but knew it was time for him to move on.
With the Chiefs in the rebuilding process and his career winding down, he knew a trade was the only way he would get a chance to win a Super Bowl.
A second round pick isn’t bad at all for a player whose skills have definitely diminished, so the Chiefs made out pretty well.

The Kansas City Chiefs are hopeful that running back Larry Johnson will report to offseason activities and drop his trade demand.
Johnson came under fire last year after he ran into trouble with the law on a few different occasions.
He has also not endeared himself to the team or the fans with his lack of apology for his actions.
The running back is frustrated by his diminshed role with the team and their losing ways, which provoked his trade request.
Because Johnson has struggled so much, he has virtually no trade value. Until the Chiefs can build that value back up, it’s highly doubtful they would trade him away for so little in return.
