Kennison was a part of some of the greatest offenses in team history when he worked alongside Priest Holmes, Tony Gonzalez and Trent Green.

He finishes his career ranked seventh in team history in receiving yards and eighth in receptions.

He was released by the Chiefs following the 2008 season and did not catch on with a team last year.

Kennison said he was humbled and proud to be able to end his career as a Kansas City Chief.

Head coach Todd Haley believes Cassel is set for a breakout season because he has a better supporting cast.

Last year, Cassel was stuck without star wideout Dwayne Bowe for four games because of a suspension.

He also had running back Larry Johnson struggling to gain yards and also causing distractions.

This year he will have Jamaal Charles, who showed a lot of promise in the second half of last year, and veteran Thomas Jones.

Specifically, the Chiefs want to be getting to the quarterback and accumulating sacks, something they think is possible under new defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel.

The Chiefs recorded just 10 sacks in 2008, by far the lowest in the NFL and an embarassing total.

They made some progress last year, more than doubling their sack total all the way up to 22.

Crennel will certainly help, but it’s going to be tough to see too much improvement when the team made no significant upgrades to its front seven in the offseason.

Bowe said players typically check out women on the sites and then wait and see which ones get back to them.

The ones that do respond are then flown in to whatever city they are in 3-4 days before the team arrives.

Head coach Todd Haley said he has discussed the comments with Bowe and has handled the matter internally.

Bowe has been in trouble many times before with the team, so these latest comments sure won’t help his cause.

Berry was far and away the top safety in the draft and drew a lot of comparisons to Baltimore’s Ed Reed.

He is considered to be a ballhawk and playmaker in the same way as Reed, which is certainly high praise.

Safeties typically aren’t drafted very high because teams often feel that it’s not worth paying top 5 money to a player at that position.

Nonetheless, Berry will immediately improve a Kansas City defense that is trying to vault its way into the top half of the NFL.

Jones hit the free agent market after the Jets decided to release him to avoid paying a roster bonus.

The running back had a very solid career with the Jets, but the team was concerned about how he wore down at the end of the season.

Jones is likely to fight for time with Jamaal Charles, and both could end up splitting carries.

The Chiefs had been also looking into signing former Oakland Raiders running back Justin Fargas.

The veteran wide receiver came over in a trade with the San Diego Chargers after the start of the season.

It was an interesting deal in that it saw two teams from the same division get together to complete a trade.

Chambers led the team in receiving yards and catches and tied Dwayne Bowe in touchdown receptions.

Bowe missed four games because he was suspended for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Fargas, who was released after failing a physical, is expected to meet with the division rival Kansas City Chiefs about a potential contract.

The running back said he doesn’t see himself going back to Oakland, as the coaching staff told him the decision simply came down to money.

He said he was a little disappointed in the way things unfolded, saying it was coincidental he was cut for failing a physical just before he was to get a roster bonus.

There is also the possibility that Fargas could end up playing right across the Bay for the San Francisco 49ers as the backup to Frank Gore.

The Chiefs had one of the worst defenses in the NFL in 2009, something that needs to change next year.

It’s already been a busy month for the Chiefs, who hired Charlie Weis as their offensive coordinator.

Interestingly enough, both men are returning to the old jobs they used to hold together with the New England Patriots.

Head coach Todd Haley is hopeful that maybe some of that New England magic can rub off on his team.

The move will reunite Weiss with quarterback Matt Cassel, as the two worked together back in New England.

Cassel struggled this season after being traded from the Patriots to the Chiefs, so maybe Weis can help him.

It will also reunite Weis with Scott Pioli, the general manager of the Chiefs who also used to be in the New England organization.

It also helps that Weis is good friends with head coach Todd Haley and will have his trust running the offense.
