The Kansas City Chiefs have removed the interim tag and named Romeo Crennel their next head coach.
Crennel made himself known while coaching the Patriots defense and helping them to three Super Bowl victories.
That earned him a shot as a head coach with the Cleveland Browns, but like others before him, it didn’t go well and he was fired.
Crennel landed with the Chiefs as defensive coordinator and took over as interim head coach after the team fired Todd Haley. ( Read More…)

The Kansas City Chiefs wasted a prime opportunity in an embarassing, 31-3 loss to the previously winless Miami Dolphins.
It was a game where the Chiefs literally could do no right, and the loss was particularly shocking since it came at Arrowhead Stadium.
Kansas City’s defense was a total embarassment, surrending three touchdown passes to quarterback Matt Moore.
The offense couldn’t move the ball at all, and they had to resort to almost all passing in the second half after falling behind by double digits. ( Read More…)

The Kansas City Chiefs won’t have to worry about losing their top pass rusher anytime soon, locking up Tamba Hali to a five-year contract worth $60 million.
A few teams, including the Baltimore Ravens, recently inquired about Hali’s availability and were turned away.
The Ravens know all too well how good Hali is after watching him pick up two sacks in last year’s playoff game.
The first round pick from back in 2006, Hali has only missed one game and registered 41.5 sacks in his career. ( Read More…)

The Kansas City Chiefs have hired former signal caller Jim Zorn to be their new quarterbacks coach.
Zorn’s coaching career has hit some very rough patches over the past two seasons to say the least.
He was fired at the end of 2009 as Washington’s head coach only to be terminated a year later as Baltimore’s quarterbacks coach.
To be fair, Zorn was simply not ready to be a head coach and the Redskins’ problems were more the fault of the front office. ( Read More…)

The Kansas City Chiefs unravelled in the second half in a disappointing 30-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
The Chiefs were dominated in time of possession, especially when it came to the first and fourth quarters.
Kansas City benefitted from a long touchdown run from running back Jamaal Charles, but there was little else to cheer about.

The Kansas City Chiefs will lose offensive coordinator Charlie Weis to the Florida Gators when the season ends.
Weis will become the offensive coordinator at Florida, which is an interesting move because it does seem to be a downgrade for him.
Rumors have started to fly that Weis did not have an amicable relationship with Chiefs head coach Todd Haley.
Haley an offensive-minded coach who may have tried to have too much influence over the gameplan. ( Read More…)

The Kansas City Chiefs saw their AFC West lead dwindle in a 31-0 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
It was a tough day for Kansas City, which was without starting quarterback Matt Cassel because of an appendectomy.
Backup Brodie Croyle got the start, and he couldn’t get much going against the NFL’s top defense.
He threw for just 40 yards and was even replaced at one point by third-string quarterback Tyler Palko. ( Read More…)

The Kansas City Chiefs continued to flex their offensive muscles in a 42-24 win over the Seattle Seahawks.
After things were still close at halftime, the game got even closer in the third quarter following a Seahawks touchdown.
With just a four point lead, the offense went to work and the Chiefs never looked back the rest of the way.
Quarterback Matt Cassel tossed four touchdown passes, three of which went to wide receiver Dwyane Bowe. ( Read More…)

The Kansas City Chiefs let a win slip through their fingers in a 23-20 overtime loss to the Oakland Raiders.
The Chiefs built a 10-0 lead in the first half and lead late in the game before their defense fell apart.
Kansas City couldn’t defend the big throw down the field, as two lead to both the game-tying and game-winning field goals for Oakland.

The Kansas City Chiefs pulled out all the tricks but couldn’t get past the Indianapolis Colts in a 19-9 loss.
The Chiefs tried an onside kick to start off the game but didn’t recover, giving Indianapolis an easy three points.
Kansas City later went for it on fourth-and-two deep inside Colts’ territory and did not get a first down, costing them another three points.
There was also two costly drops by wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, including one in the corner of the end zone. ( Read More…)
